“When I saw Tyson Beckford hailed as this beautiful man by all people, that caused a shift in my being,” Diggs told My Brown Baby.“I remember literally waking up and walking the streets the next day and, because I had a bald head as well, feeling a little bit more proud.” Diggs spoke with My Brown Baby as part of a roundtable discussion with several bloggers to promote his new children’s book, (Mac Millan).Beckford was born in Rochester, New York on December 19, 1970 to an Afro-Jamaican father of Panamanian descent, Lloyd Beckford, and a Chinese Jamaican mother, Hillary Dixon Hall.Soon after he was born his mother took the family back to Jamaica, where they lived for seven years before returning to New York, finally settling in The Bronx.During his school years, Tyson was often teased about his looks.Beckford was named "Man of the Year" in 1995 by the cable television music channel VH1 and one of the "50 Most Beautiful People in the World" by People magazine.Beckford co-hosted the modeling contest Make Me a Supermodel on the television channel Bravo with fellow supermodel Niki Taylor.The show chose Nicole Trunfio to join Beckford as a mentor to the model contestants for the show's second season.
He was also the host of both seasons of the Bravo program Make Me a Supermodel.
Since then, Beckford has remained mum on the incident, but now Shaik is speaking out and explaining what she thinks of the fight.
As previously reported, Beckford and Shaik dated on and off from 2008 to 2015.
Beckford has been described as the most successful male supermodel of all time, achieving fame and huge contracts similar to the female models that had huge success in the 1990s.
In 2014, Vogue Magazine named Beckford the greatest male model of all time.
